At present, the Institute of Mining Machine Design of TZ is the most professional research and development institute in China, which has developed a series of open pit mine equipment. It has the research and development ability of full series shovel from 4 m3to 75 m3, full series hydraulic excavators for mining from 130t to 800t, and full series semi-continuous mining complete sets of equipment from 1500t/h to 20000 t/h. The mining equipments occupy exceed more than 90% in the domestic market and are exported to Mongolia, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Liberia, South Africa, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and other countries and regions. The WK-75 shovel, which was successfullytrial-manufacturedin June 2012, is the largest shovel in the world, reachsthe international leading level and fills the global gap. Its products had won 1 National Prize for Progress in science and technology, 12 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards, 4 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Achievement Awards, 49 authorized invention patents (including 2 foreign patents), 57 utility model patents, 2 appearance patents, and made outstanding contributions to the development of open-pit mines around the world.
At present, all the employees of the institute have bachelor's degree.55% of the employees have master's degree. 51% of the employees are senior engineers account, including 6 professor-level senior engineers. The institute has 2 academic and technical leaders of Shanxi Province, has1 leading talent of emerging industries of Shanxi Province, and contains "Key Scientific and Technological Innovation Team of Shanxi Province for Large Mining Shovels". Relying on the National Key Laboratory of Mining Equipment and Intelligent Manufacturing, The institute has carried out several research cooperation with Jilin University Northeastern University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and other universities, including research on the basic theory and intelligence of open pit equipment, such as mining, crushing, and bulk material conveying.
